I need to preface this...as it is an older one about Iambe I edited and updated just a bit not a new write. It was never posted and in part because it had to be edited for content to be suitable for this forum...

Merry Christmas any Iambe fans.. My gift to you

I’d driven all night
Across the Panhandle
And come daylight
Had stopped to wash a bit
Of the white sand
From those pills out of my eyes
Before I got coffee and
Headed on.

Jake had tracked me down
Over in Arizona
Told me he heard from Iambe
And that she wanted to talk to me.

I called,
Listened
And packed the truck

Now here I was
Sitting in a rest stop
Off the Interstate
Wondering why I bothered
Going back

Hours later
I pulled into Red’s
And she was there

We didn’t really say much
Just nodded and ordered a beer
Waiting for the other to break

About 2 Red closes
And Iambe and I left together
Headed back to her place
Where she walked in
Threw on the lights
And began to undress.

God,
I remembered her body
But decided to
sleep on the couch
While she snored on silk

Seeing her naked again
Almost made the trip worth it

OH how I envy the ones that can write in the "real to life" manner as you just did.

Love the gift~

Those last two lines left a big grin on my face... you may have edited for content, but you didn't lose the sizzle. *S*

I like this very much, Cpat! *S*

Sunshine... Happy holidays to you..glad you enjoyed.

Sudhir Iyer.. thank you sir... just a thought that we should remember those close to us during the holiday season..and Iambe has been close to me for a number of years.
As close as a thought and as far as a fantasy will take you..

Mark V. you haven't missed much but the ramblings of a made up chracter about situations that never existed. Thanks for dropping in.

Vandana: Happy Holidays to you as well... glad you enjoyed.

Salty... Nothing to envy here... I just used to ramble about Iambe..a made up character that seemed to have a hold on my psyche I couldn't shake.. thanks for the nice words, but truly nothing to envy in this or any of my attempts at writing.

Suthern... the content edited was not that explicit..so the "sizzle" was easy to keep, if indeed there ever was any... thanks for dropping in... and hey..you can grab my tush if you  need to... ( laughing)

Connel... YEEEEAAAAHHHHHH..

Careful what you're offering... LOL. My nakedness does NOT leave quite the same impression as Iambe's! LOL

Well, Capt. Ron, I certainly did enjoy your wonderful gift you gave to us. Thank you very much, Sir.

BTW, I missed some of your "lambe" series and would love to see them reposted. You are such a wonderful story-teller.
And, were you really driving a truck somewhere along the "Panhandle", or was that from your imagination? I was just wondering......

Me and my wondering (wandering) mind...... Hee!Hee!

All imagination my friend... If you want to read the series all you need to do is go through the archives...I believe all that have ever been shared are there, but not sure it is worth your time, and I wouldn't dream of boring people here with the whole story again..( smiling)

Thanks for the nice words..and for dropping in..

Ron,

I haven't followed the series, either, but enjoyed this a great deal.

Doesn't there need to be at least one more...we're looking at a couple holidays, not just one! Smiling here,
thanks for this.

Warm regards, Pat

(smiling)... what is wrong with me? Lord...we don't want to open those floodgates and start listing what is wrong with me....

The poem is from a very long series of poems about iambe... the reactions and reasons for not going for it are better understood through the history of the two. Now..the whole thing is not worth the trouble to go find and read.... so let's just say they have a history and sometimes, going for it isn't worth the emotional risk.

nancy... I have sworn not to write of her anymore, and in editing this I came as close to breaking that oath as I care to for now...but if I come across another old one or two needing to be cleaned up so the language and subject matter fits this forum, I'll try to post them... I thank you for the devoted read of this series...and always appreciate your thoughts... hugs back at ya my friend..

laney... thank you. The series was posted over a several year period in fact, but can be found in the archives if you have the patience to dig them out. I don't advise it neccessarily...because I think they would not be worth the trouble on your part..

as for talent... that is what I see in other peoples works.. not mine...

Well I'll be damned.  Iambe for Christmas.  I'm sure I should run fast, not look back.  Unfortunately, healthy emotional decisions don't hold much fascination for me.
Thanks Ron.  I was needin' some inspiration.
