What Might? what might the morning bring ‘sides daylight and winter things? could it bring silver and gold and dreams well told or birds that soar on the wing? could the sky in reply loft the rain or bow by could the earth in sweet mirth regale in new birth without the winter’s comply? the air out there is as warm, I declare as a morn in autumn or spring but the geese have flown on to asouthern dawn and the calendar is doing its thing. so the starlings dance by in formation they fly rejoicing the warm of the day trying hard to believe that winter’s taken its leave and its time to come out and play ©December 16, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
