Re. Yule for You

a package came for me today
which put me in great awe
and just beneath it, another,
which nearly broke my jaw

for I’ve not put pen to paper
for a single Christmas card
and I’ve not gone a-shopping
with cash or credit card

a few trinkets have found their way
to a tiny bit of Yule display
but many more reside in tins
and other types of storage bins

the lights for in an out
are still wrapped around their cards
and leaves are scattered everywhere
on porch and in the yard

the dust is absent from
some microscopic places
and closets and rooms
still harbor Christmas laces

but today the sun is shining
and the sky’s a radiant blue
and I just can’t get concerned
enough to follow suit

for blue of sky is something grand
and blue of me dismay
and though I’m behind a hundred-fold
there’s much of me that’s gay

for decking the halls
will find its way, I’m sure,
and knowing others have thought of me
brings a peace that’s sweet dujour

so please don’t be alarmed
if you’ve not heard my love for you
and Christmas wishes of the sweetest kind
some day I will get through

Epiphany is coming,
beyond the Yule deadline
so your Christmas time will be extended
just like this little rhyme

my wishes will not be lessened
in my heart nor in my mind
so I hope you understand this snail’s pace
and not think me too unkind

WOW! I just ran across last year's Christmas letter. I wrote it Christmas Eve morning! If I get something done this week, I'll be ahead of last year's record! There's hope for me yet!

Virginia,

I enjoyed this. I have been so in 'scrooge mode', I can't believe it.

However, I too, know it'll work out, and get done.

Happy Holidays, warm regards, Pat

it is looking up for me, I finally, with help, have decided which poem to include in my Christmas greeting...so maybe now I can get on them!

I have a tree in my living room waiting for adornment, too.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Virginia~
You're not alone, my friend.
I still have much to do as well.
I enjoyed the read and I'm glad
you're making progress.
Hugs,

Oh Grief! You're one of those people that are at WalMart at 6pm on Christams Eve, aren't you?

*I work security at WalMart and it never fails...we close at 6pm on the 24th...and can't get everyone out of the store till 8pm*
