Balancing

These toes are whitened,
curled tightly over the ledge’s lip;
body tipped and expectant,
poised to tumble
until limp limbs collapse.

I’ll throw myself headlong
into your bracing winds,
fearing your feathers won’t hold me.

You boast of talents, tongues flicking
with something exquisitely close to pain;
leaving me to weep.

I’ll wear my anticipation visibly,
points of compass rising
hard and icy as stars.

Soon, you’ll drift from cloud to cloud,
hurt me with insincere visions.

You have the girth of the constellations
for a buoy,
but I know what it is
to fall.

I had on my calendar a date...to ask you,
"how's it coming?"...
It was dated 12/26.
Thought I would go ahead and ask now...

just 'cuz...

this is stronger...more bite to the words...and make me want to just give you hug...in case the feathers don't hold you...

Thanks, Aenimal!

Thank you passing shadows - I know Libras well (no one myself, though).

Thank you, Sunshine! Well, a lot of irons in the fire, you know? Lots of projects going on simultaneously. How is yours coming along?

Cpat - I won't ever turn down a hug! Thank you!

thanks Sey!

Thanks as always, Noah!

This is a well written and well expressed piece.

Corinne...see that extra few irons in the fire?  Mine are in there, too!  LOL

They'll get done, the both of 'em!

Hi sweet poet,

I hope this isn't a sign of unexpected changes. Great write anyway.
