The message of Christmas, it leaves its sweet home
It makes its way westward  past steeple and dome
Through streets of Jerusalem, roadway and gate
It travels on hope and precarious fate

It crosses the dessert, and mountains and plain
And weathers the elements wild wind and rain
The message of Christmas rides over the sea
Before it can reach a poor sinner like me

Then here in America, a hindrance so grand
Where commercial indulgence has covered the land
The message of Christmas gets lost in the crowd
For the shrill sounds of Christmas are ever so loud

But there in the shadows a child has knelt
To express all the comfort and joy that he felt
And thank God sincerely for the gift He bestowed
Of a little sweet child born a long time ago

The message of Christmas was etched on his face
A message that travelled through time and through space
Nobody could stop the most powerful voice
That brings us a reason to love and rejoice

Oh, baby of Bethlehem, Child of grace
Born in a humble and unlikely place
Come enter my home, oh child divine
Engrave your great message in this heart of mine

How precious your words are!

Our secular commercialization can't drown out the awesome gift God gave, coming in man-form as a newborn babe in a manger.  We must keep others aware of the real meaning we celebrate, even if it isn't the exact date Jesus was born.

Thank you for sharing this beauty.

God bless

Wow Lizzie, that almost read like a song, it just needs a bridge.  I was thinking of you all over the holidays, and I hope you are doing well.  I see you can still whip up a rhyme and a reason for this season.

Amen
