FAITH

If faith were a mountain top many would not attempt
To scale the steep slopes for fear of falling

If faith were water cascading down those  same slopes
Many would not attempt to ride the current
For fear of drowning in its foam

if faith were a little e stream many would claim
it not powerful enough to be worthy of their attention
though that little stream may have carved
a ravine, deeper than the height of the mountain they feared

If faith were handed then on a platter, many would
Look with a doubtful eye at its validity
If faith disguised itself as riches
Perhaps many would claim it as possession

Why must faith prove itself to the doubtful?
Explain itself to the skeptical,
Describe itself to the blind
Repeat and repeat its hymn of comfort to the grieving
When the innocence of a child embraces it
With no excuses, no restrictions, no hindrance,
No fear or doubt.

How can it be that a child has more wisdom
More certainty, more conviction and less fear
Than those of age who claim to have more experience, more strength,
More knowledge, more understanding

If there were no faith, we would clamor for it,
Demand it, feel the need for it
And claim that if only there were faith, we would
Climb the highest mountain to attain it.
with no fear, no doubt, no hesitancy no questions
And we would long to walk in faith beside Christ
As in the innocence of a child

Every time I read this, I copy different lines. You've written so many truths here. We must become as little children...

How is it that you have so much faith and its equivalent in wisdom, dear Lizzy?...

Strong words, Elizabeth.  Indeed, it is because any may have/exercise faith that many refuse to.  The rewards for those that do exercise faith may not always be witnessed in this realm, but they are no less real.

Sad and glorious will be the day when faith is no longer needed for one to know Christ... for all will see, and every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.  Not soon enough for those glorified through faith... and all too soon for those without.

Strong, and beautiful write.
