To Harley Ember Our Great Granddaughter

Into our lives you come tumbling in
your light so brightly shines
that we have no defense against your joy
Our hearts melt when we see your smile

For our futures are all unknown.
But we need not face alone.

To love you so much is a kind of sin
our old hearts your loves binds.
All you want is a brand new toy
to complement you childish style

There is one who truly saves
us from violent storm waves.

To what distant castles will you walk?
In what distant seas will you swim?
What distant boys will touch your skin?
Under what distant skies will you weep?

But there is one who gives care.
To save us from a life unfair.

Perhaps from heaven we can talk
To fill your soul with solace to the brim.
Because we are your loving kin
Your soul in happiness could seep.

When trouble comes with its nasty snares.
Remember the one who truly cares.

I think along these lines myself, and with each new experience I share with my granddaughters I wonder about things more and more.  Time goes by just way too quickly when you love doesn't it?
