I thanks God for this web page and the light that eminates from it; Mad props to Georgek and Bob Gotti for their inspiring work.  Here is a poem that I published in The Springs of Helicon Quarterly (1996).

The Messenger

He flies as fast as lighting,
A steed of noble breed
bringing a message of antiquity.

He hovers above all (on earth)
Showering down blessings
to any that might heed his call.

His trumpet, thought made of pure silver,
Blares with an echo of a thousand souls-
people who await their day-
and any mortal who may
Take up the cross on that day.

And though his feet be made of Brass
yet he still is not ashamed.
And though he has only two wings,
yet he still is not ashamed.
He triumphs amidst clouds of joy-
hallow be Thy name!

To descend to the furthermost reaches in time is but a formality;
to ascend above the horizon is part of his job.
Oh noble messenger, one day you will be free
to praise His as you will.

In the evening he sits with closed hands,
and at night, yet he is still.
