Like the living dead I fall
No reason to make an attempt to crawl
Floating under dark water
Failing as a friend and daughter
I resist the urge to break and bawl

Lids open to a perilous hell
As I see the pit in which I’ve fell
Nerves twitching in the silence
Nearly closing all the distance
From the day my heart was well

Looking up to all on top
I hide the pain, but tears won’t stop
A crystal mask, my best disguise
Everyone watches with worried eyes
As they dry salty rain with a pity mop

Lazily searching for a way to climb
To escape the pit and the fate of time
Footholds rest in the gloom
Angels as companions, around me they loom
Allowing me to rise in one narrow line

Now free from the shadows
I no longer fear sinking so low
For GOD is always with me
No matter where I might be
His love is eternal and only grows
