How Many Days?

How many days have I to live
to give the things I love to give;
A lover’s kiss? A warm hello?
A friendly hug to those I’ve known?
A tear of hope? A leap for joy?
A gentle smile with “It’s a boy!?”
A needed call? A soft reply?
A “Missed you too…?” A long “Good-bye?”
A playful walk? A bride’s debut?
A hand let go with said, “I do’s?”
A secret kept? A tale to tell?
An “I’m so glad I’ve known you well?”
A “Bye for now?” A greeted nod?
A “Welcome home!?” A wink for God…?
How many days, I ask of You,
Have I to give what I’ve loved to?

God bless,
Lighthouse Bob

masterfully inquired!  which brings one to solemn introspection, 'cause young or old--no one is given a guarentee thaey'll still be here tomorrow to do the things they like, or the things that need to be done.  i guess we need to give more heed to the wise man's words-"whatsoever thy had findeth to do, do it with all your might..."

great poem!

Lighthousebob, Bob! What a joy to read you! So good that you come in here every now and then, not often enough though!

Enjoyed your poem greatly, for it is a very effective, deep reminder of our fragile existence down here on Earth. We should keep your perfect poem on the wall and read it every morning, in order to be inspired to DO those things with all our heart.

Love and long live Bob!

Loved the message in this Bob, and I too think of these questions often, so give extra hugs on some days.

A great reminder that today is a gift, being "the present"; we need to love and give of ourselves daily and not blatantly waste opportunities of joy. --Joe
