It Is Finished

"It is finished", cried our Lord
As He died upon the tree
In magnificent obedience
To His Father's firm decree.

He knew well that He was going
Toward that lonely hillside cave
As He rode with "alleluias"
Our deceitful souls to save.

How His brave heart must have broken
As He traveled forth to die
When the shouts of adulation turned
To cries of "Crucify".

I'd like to think I would have stayed there
With the sad and faithful few
Who were with Him through His ordeal
As the senseless anger grew.

I hope I would have brought Him water
As He moaned with dreadful thirst
And have held His grieving mother
To protect her from the worst.

And I hope that unlike Peter
I would not stoop to deny
That I knew my loving Savior
Who for me would choose to die.

What a Beautiful Tribute to our Lord and Savior for the work He did for us at this time of the year when the world remembers what He did, and for those that still don't know why, you spelled that out beautifully.

In Our Savior's Love,

Eager to see you soon Joyce,
In that funny white stuff above.

Dear Joyce, your soul reflects in this beautiful poem!
We can't comprehend indeed what happened ... why there were only a few who remained faithful. So sad. But He has forgiven.

United in His love.

You really took me there and, yes, I do hope that I too would have been one to honor my Savior as He sacrificed His life for me and for all humanity. I thought that this was a very poignant and thought provoking piece. God bless you and thank you for sharing.

Oh, Joyce, I love the way you're so honest, understanding and loving. You HOPE you'd have taken a stand for Christ.  I'm sure you will when He returns.  This is a definite keeper.

Love,
  Rae

A marvelous piece; I can't imagine that those who were privileged to witness that single event were able to fully comprehend the significance of what transpired before them; fortunately, the Grace and Salvation of Christ is not finished! --Joe
