What makes the peace of mountaintops?
Of meadows edged in purple lace?
Of drifting sands and rolling seas?
Of eagle wings in eagle space?

What makes the peace of solitude?
Of water falling over stones?
The answer lies in whistling limbs
In snow capped hills and piney cones

For peace, my friend, is leafy fern
Sprung up from fertile woodland sod
The absence of impurity
When viewing only things of God
