I play soccer with Jesus.
He's the best player on my team.
Yea I play soccer with Jesus.
He is the reason I will live out my dream.
And though it takes a whole team to finish in victory,
I have no problem, giving Him all the glory.

I play soccer with Jesus,
And He can play any position.
So when I play soccer with Jesus,
There's no need to worry about transitions.
Dont' believe me? Just watch and He'll make you a believer.
But you should see the miracles that happen when He plays keeper.

He'll save any shot that comes His way.
Won't let you down, He'll save the day.
And when the cross comes in, He knows what to do.
He'll sacrifice Himself and His body, just for you.
He'll get up for the cross just to come back down,
Just to get back up and spread the love around.

Yea I love playing soccer for Jesus,
I didn't tell you He's my coach too?
To be playing soccer for Jesus,
Is really a dream come true.
He's going to give me the right tools I need to procede,
And move on to the Big Leauge, just another one of His beautiful deeds.

So as for me, I'm a believer...
And as for Jesus...yea...Jesus is a keeper.
(for some who may not know, in soccer a goalie is also called a keeper. "goal keeper". only in the last line does it mean different)

Jamison,

Nobody bends 'em like Beckham or Saves 'em like Jesus. Amen. I liked your poem a lot. I liked how natural it flowed. It was kind of like reading an interview with a soccer player. I would have loved to have seen this interview on TV. When you wrote about "cross" was this in reference to the cross kick? Just curious. Anyway, I loved how it correlated with the Cross of Jesus Christ. Great poem and thanks for sharing it with us.
