As I sat last night in the dark,
I wondered where you were.

Would you place your hand upon me,
and let me know you were there.

I struggled with feelings of insecurity,
of doubt and feeling alone.

Then I began to feel that you were there,
You would never leave me out there on my own.

As I worked through this feeling,
and this pit I felt inside.

I tried to remember,
for who and what you died.

I suddenly felt ashamed,
that I was sitting in my own pitty.

When I should have been on my knees,
thanking you for all I have.

Sometimes we forget just how blessed we are,
and what a blessing our life should be.

And I knew in my heart,
that you had forgiven me.

For the pit subsided,
as well as the tears.

Thank you for the talk last night, Lord,
and all those we've shared through the years.

Lisa,

I really appreciated your honesty found in your poem. It reminded me of a time in my own life (almost 30 years ago) when I was feeling very much alone, separated from my first wife, raising a child on my own, and in so very very much in need of physical companionship, etc. etc. when I consulted with my Dad (physical father) who by the way does not attend church but he did give me some of the best Christian advise that I've ever received... he said, "Isn't one of the first things you learn as a Christian that you are never alone?" So True is this as is your poem so very very true and honest.

Again, God bless and thank you for opening and expressing your heart here.

Bob,
Thank you very much.  I have had quite a life and one that left me with a lot of scars and sometimes I have to remember what a sacrifice he made for me and everyone else.  I am so very thankful to have my Lord who helps me through all the things we go through on this earth.  I could not survive without him.  Lisa
