Dear You,

I've realized that life is all about details: Religion, family, school, relationships and all other things. And our lives, canvases; meant to be written on. Those very details; sketched, accidentally stained on or carefully touched in through the fabric of our time play important roles in who we are, who we've been and who we shall become. Certain people draw with pencils, granting themselves the freedom of a second chance, of a new beginning... in certain cases, simply never wanting to allocate one particular part of their life to any one thing permanently. There are others that find using a pen more relevant. The thing is, as you go to write down in pen, you wonder; Will this line, this very word or image over time become a scar in the tissue of my canvas, or shall it become a mark - a statement that will stand the test of time, something I may look upon and be proud of? Questioning your fate, searching for the answers to come you proceed to ask: Will those that lay eyes upon your artwork appreciate it? Will you be cast from society as a result to a grotesque mistake? Will the sceptics chastise you for having taken the time to carefully draw out your thought in pen? And as you ponder these queries, I ask of you; Who shall know the consequences of your strokes? Who shall see the rewards of your work? Who shall understand the why behind your will? Who shall appreciate your canvas for its true worth? Who shall in actuality observe your life in its entirety? Who will you be willing to share it with?

My canvas has felt the stroke of ink; Where I've marked in my faith, my family, my beliefs, you. And as I think to the moments where I have written down in pen concerning those respective cases, I feel a sense of satisfaction, comfort and security. I know that in time, I will appreciate the work of my pen - Because with each case; I've been tolerant with passion, I've disregarded formalities, I've trusted my heart and soul and not the equations I've formulated in my mind.

As for those questions I ask others, I do as well of myself and I've come to these conclusions: I alone will see my soul react to the outcome of my strokes; I alone will know the joy my choices have brought to me; I alone will know the meaning and thought behind my actions and words; I alone will know my life's true value; I alone will know my life's path and be able to recount my journey. I alone. I am alone, I have been alone; however, now I can change the fortune of my tale because I am willing to share it all with you. And so my heart's reactions become your own; My joy will bring you to smile; You will see through my actions and words and understand the meaning of who I am; You will know without discrepancy the worth of my self; You will have the story of my love, my most valuable chronicle, in words - addressed to you. Not because you've brought me to this, because I want you to have the best part of me. A part of me that has seen no face, heard no voice, known no name. A piece of both my heart and soul that has wanted to know acceptance, but to which I have granted no leave. Pieces I now carry on each of my sleeves for you to see, for you to be close to when you place your hand in mine, my own in yours.

In pen, I have with my full heart, given you a home on my canvas; where the view spans out so you may see all around you. Your name the address to which I send my letters, my appreciation for you the purpose of my prayers, the reason I've wished, the star of my dreams - The stroke that has made my canvas a masterpiece.

If you paint your strokes with some passion, and believe it is the best you can paint, it will become a masterpiece to all that view it, and hopefully they will try to duplicate it.  What a compliment!  What better person to judge the canvas you paint but yourself, and if you believe it to be good, then it truly is.  I loved your pen in this posting.

It appears your loving strokes paint truth from your heart on your canvass. What could be lovelier?

I'm truly happy to of received these two replies. I always look forward to receiving positive feedback; however, I feel as though your replies aren't sugar-coated but rather very heartfelt- and to me that is much more rewarding than any "crazed fan letter" could ever be. It's also refreshing to know that the reader can pick-up on the genuine feeling I placed into this piece as I wrote it. That alone is very encouraging. Thank you very much.
