Worst Prison

The way of life isn’t chosen,
An addicts life is frozen
Hardened by craving’s need
Only one more fix can feed

Got the money for the buy
Tried to do it on the sly
This one had a new twist
With cops and cuffs on the wrists

Jail, court and sentencing
Withdrawal sickness deepening
Then within the prison cell
Who’d believe one could get well?

Cell time is deferred
For a bible study, offered
Sharing the love of Jesus Christ
Who willingly paid our sinful price

On the cross at Calvary
So all men could be free
Free from Satan’s lethal grasp
Free to live above one’s past

Behind steel door of cold cell
Confession and healing dwell
Here one can have a new start
Knowing freedom lies in the heart

The prison before arrest and cuffs
Is the very worst for any of us
It’s self-sufficient confinement
That hardens the heart like cement

A prison of lies and mistrust
Top position is held by us
The door to our heart is locked
While the King of kings is mocked

Thank our Father, in heaven above
For His unconditional undying love
To come in man form, Jesus Christ
To die for us, to give us life

Sandgrain,

WOW!!! Your poem has such a wonderful and powerful message. Yes, we were all in the worst kind of prison of "lies and mistrust" once and maybe still might be in some ways, but Father God has certainly given us the keys or "His unconditional undying love" so that we may be set free.... What a sacrifice Father God gave for us....Amen.  Again, WOW!!!! I really liked this poem and I do thank you for sharing it with us.

God bless,

-Bob

Thanks for reading and responding, Bob.  As I thought of being a prisoners of the mind, this analogy came to me.  I'm glad you found the message strong.
