Humbleness

Dear Father, forgive me for grumbling,
"My request wasn't granted again."
I expectantly asked You for sunshine,
While another prayed harder for rain.

Please give me the wisdom to notice
That the world doesn't turn around me.
You've answered my prayers in the best way,
Only You, the Almighty can see.

So the next time I ask for a favor
Whether praying for rain or the sun,
I'll try to end with self-effacing words,
"Not my small will but Thy big will be done.

I love it, Joyce.  It's easy to find ourselves praying for God to do our will.  When one of my daughters was about 2, we were saying the Lord's Prayer and she said, "MY will be done on earth..."  After correcting her and explaining, I did a lot of soul searching.  I'd always said "THY will.." but too often the intention was MY will.

Joyce,

I've missed reading your poetry. I've been studying at the University for the past few months and, now, because it's summer vacation, I do have a chance to return here and read a bit of the poetry that I so enjoy.... I like this poem a lot becuae it shows to me how one can come back to having a heart after Christ's heart when they ackowledge that what they really want is the will of the Father to be done in their life rather than their own will. After all, Father does know best. Smiles.

Again, enjoyed reading.

Thanks for the reminder, Joyce. Maybe I'll read this each day as a prayer to remind me to pray for God's will and the grace to accept it.

I hope someday you get the chance to live like you were dying....

And His will is always for our highest good, no doubt.

I think your beautiful prayer was really born in your heart and it surely is heard Up There.

Love,
Margherita
