They nailed His hands with ragged spikes
Into a cross of wood
And did the same thing to His feet
Such agony withstood.

He bore the shame of all their mocks
Accepting brutal blows
Not a single word He’d spoke
Not even to His foes.

He hung there silent on the cross
Forgiving those below
Then the Father turned His back
As Jesus bore our woes.

Forsaken on a wooden cross
Jesus quickly died
The lightning flashed and thunder rolled
And darkness filled the skies.

The earth began to tremble
All the watchers fled
And in the temple courts
The veil in two was shred.

Three days later, Jesus risen
The battle finally won
He is Christ the only King
The Victor, God’s own Son.

This is Easter, truth be told
A time to contemplate
The sacrifice of God made man
Whose love won’t dissipate.

Jesus lives in my heart!  He can in yours too!!!

Nicely told.  The rich theme of Easter can never run out of inspiration for good poetry.

This is beautiful!  Love so deep, broad, strong and true is the goal we pursue with  greater appreciation constantly.
