opinionated fly-boy
****************

I have a parakeet

his name is Sullivan

he is young

but matures

into his birdself

everyday...

yesterday

we had a fight

i put his mirror

where i wanted it

and he moved it

he stared me down

each time

then, with intention

he would pull it into

a prefered location

this went on for

about 3 minutes

i admit i enjoyed the spar

but what i really loved

was that Sully

trusted me enough

to stand his ground

and fight for his desire

without fear of reprisals

after all, that is

the way of families

is it not?

my little friend

had opinions about his

living arrangements

he won because

after all it is his cage

my apartment comlex

is trying to evict me

13 years without

an interuption in rent

i await disability insurance

and they do not trust

enough to wait with me

even though my honor

has been proven

these many years

i am not a dead beat

for pity sake

hense a tiny heart

in a tiny feathered body

taught me that

it is ok to fight

for my home

when he bravely

went toe to toe

with "the big human

and provider of seed"

making his desire

known to me

and that anything less

was just not acceptable...

SULLIVAN DIED RECENTLY
BUT HE FLUTTERS THROUGH MY HEART
DAILY.
HE STILL PULLS ME OUT OF MY
DEPRESSION
WHEN THE NEED ARISES.
I STILL FEEL HIS TINY FEET
ON MY EAR
AND KNOW THAT GOD
STILL LETS HIM
COME TO ME
ON THE WINGS OF LOVE...

That's sweet.  I'm sure Sullivan was a close part of your everyday life.  Sorry he's gone but glad you retain happy memories of him.

WHAT A GREAT STORY.  AND IT IS VERY TRUE THAT WE CAN LEARN FROM ANIMALS.  THEY RUN BY INSTINCT WHEREAS WE CAN OFTEN BE RUN BY FALSE GUILT.  GOOD FOR YOUR PAST FEATHERED FRIEND FOR TEACHING YOU TO STAND YOUR GROUND.  PETS ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE TOO.

CONNIE~
I'M SO SORRY THAT SULLY HAS FLOWN THIS EARTHLY PLAIN ... BUT SURE GLAD HE LEFT SUCH PRECIOUS MEMORIES~

AS A LOVER OF FEATHERED CREATURES I GREATLY ENJOYED SULLY'S ANTICS~
