I posted a poem titled "She Soars Like An Eagle", but I re-edited the poem, and this is the final draft. I took this poem and put it in a picture frame for my cousin Laverne to be placed near her coffin, when that day comes. She is in her last stages of Cancer. She wanted me to write a poem for her. She heard the poem and said it was so beautiful. She was really pleased. I hope you like the new poem. Her mother is still living at 101 years of age. She has dementia and is not aware that one daughter has passed away, but will lose another soon. It is sad but life must go on! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Laverne was an inspiration to everyone She cherished life in hardships and fun Being her last testament and final goal God sends heavenly angels for her soul Laverne's mother was 'special' in her life Through heartaches of unbearable strife Tending her mother's needs many years Sharing of laughter and saddened tears Her entire family is loved wo very much As fingertips reach for one final touch Her great-grandson is a blessing to her She passes her heritage, in order to enter A beautiful legacy shared by one and all As she answers the 'Master's Call' Through God, shining bright and regal Her Christian faith soars like an eagle By: "thepassionatepoet" The windows of the soul, reflect negative and positive images.Correct the negative and praise the positive [This message has been edited by Brenda Hall (02-09-2006 12:16 PM).] |

This is a beautiful tribute and even better is that she received it while living. Seemed sad to me that most tributes are given after a person passes on, so for my mom-in-law's 87th birthday, I wrote to relatives and friends that I'd be making a book for her with fond memories and/or pictures from them. It brimmed with loving thoughts of incidents, holidays, mishaps, and loving wishes for her. She enjoyed it a long time before her death at 95 years of age. Rae |

What a beautiful poem that is a sort of dedication. As I read it the stanza: Laverne's mother was 'special' in her life Through heartaches of unbearable strife Tending her mother's needs many years Sharing of laughter and saddened tears reminds me of my relationship with my mom. We are like best friends and I am sure when the time comes, hopefully for not a very long time, I will have a hard time getting past her death. This is a beautiful poem. I loved it very much.
