Word of the Day for Saturday October 22, 2005
www.dictionary.com

   umbrage \UHM-brij\, noun-
   1.  Shade, shadow, hence, something that affords a shade, as a screen of trees or foliage.
   2. a. A vague or indistinct indication or suggestion, a hint.

The  river tumbling green and white, far below me, the dark
high  banks,  the plentiful umbrage, many bronze cedars, in
shadow,   and   tempering   and  arching  all  the  immense
materiality, a clear sky overhead, with a few white clouds,
     limpid, spiritual, silent.
--Walt Whitman, [4]Specimen Days & Collect

Umbrage is derived from Latin umbra, "shade."

I know this feeling well Marge.
So many times we come upon a scene
that leaves us in awe of the splendour
He has created.
Lovely..absolutely lovely.

This was amazingly simple and enticing!  I loved the poetry of the picture and the words themselves add to the serenity found within the leaves of the trees!  I loved this write...needless to say!

Another natural beauty with rich poetry enhancing it.  Plus even a lesson along with it.  Thanks, Marge.

God bless,

Marge, this is spectacular. I feel the Holy Ground when I look out my window and see the forests and the mountains.

A wonderful picture and stunning words of thought. And thank you for the  word lesson and usage.
This reminds me of Barbra Streisand's, On Holy Ground, from her album, Higher Ground.

hugs and luvs, Marti

Living simply and calmly in the mountains!
