A mile from home, he pulls off the road
To sit and gather his thoughts
Twenty years of marriage, kids and a farm
And all the things they bought

It's been on his mind for quite some time
How unhappy his life has become
Day after day, week after week
His feelings have started to numb

A good Christian man, though seldom at church
He whispers a prayer to the Lord
To forgive him his sins, the things he has done
And this life he can barely afford

He opens the glovebox, pulls out his gun
And looks at this cold blue steel
One pull of the trigger, one second of pain
Is all he'll have left to feel

Deep in his thoughts, he doesn't notice
A man standing next to the car
Startled at first, he opens his door
The man starts to ask him "how far"

He stops in his tracks when he sees the gun
And he tells him he means him no harm
Just looking for work, somebody in town
Had told him about this farm

He looked in the eyes of this stranger, unknown
And felt the compassion inside
The man said "You're troubled, I feel it within"
"Your pain is not easy to hide"

"Trust in the Lord for what you need"
"There's no greater power you'll find"
"Death will not be the answer for you"
"Seek The Father of all mankind"

He lowered his head and started to weep
And the pain started fading away
The man put his hand on his shoulder and said
"Always remember this day"

He raised his head to thank the man
He was nowhere to be found
No sign that he had been there
Not a footprint on the ground

Now, Sundays he's at church
Praying from his heart
Thankful that the Lord above
Gave him a brand new start.

Just a kind word, a kind word will open so many doors, including letting help in. Nicely done!

What a beautiful story.... Angels do exist and God does heal every wound.... it is for us only to trust Him.
