Those Golden Years

So many years together spent
in Love and in the Lord they went
so quickly and much cherished still,
those golden years, the years that thrilled
and healed, that once fulfilled
each precious dream, each wanton will
I can’t imagine why they’ve passed
and never will until at last
the River Pure, the Fruited Tree,
the Throne of God at last I’ll see
and there I’ll bow, and there I’ll be
in Golden Years eternally.

God bless you,
Lighthouse Bob

What a loving thought, never ending golden years.  As always, I enjoyed this, Bob.  It's hard to visualize outside the world 'box' we humanly know, but bible verses and spiritual poetry direct us to His glorious light.

God bless,

Rae,

Very true that it is difficult at times to see beyond the box in which we live even though it is also true that we are to walk by faith and not by sight and yes I do join you in looking forward to that bright and glorious day. Thanks again. -Bob

Hi, Bob. I've missed reading your spiritual poems. Been a while since I've been here, hope I catch with all of you.

Manna to my spirit, being here, savoring the thoughts served in large spoonfuls of lines and words.

The idea of "years eternally" is a poetic gem.  I see it as the crown of your entire poem, which admits to an inability to comprehend the nature of time and memory (that years, in memory, seem quick), and why things pass... but the certainty that comes with faith assures you that those years will exist eternally, rather than passing, in eternity.

Desire for eternity is one of the great things about being human, and it makes great poetry.  I always love reading you, Bob.  Thanks for posting this.

Brian

I've always loved your poetry, and this one is no exception--I like the perspective-the twist- the very thoughts presented here.  How much I find myself relating to them.

God Bless You Friend,
