Undeniable

I didn't go to the theatre,
I didn't want the agony
Of watching as they flogged my Lord
And hung Him on the dreaded tree.

I spared myself as he did not
From pain and suffering for me;
But when they showed it in my church,
I watched him die in misery.

I wanted so to quench His thirst
And help to carry heavy cross.
I cried with scalding tears for her,
His loving mother's dreadful loss.

Though I have known since a small child
That Jesus died in agony,
I'd rather not have seen the pain
He suffered for unworthy me.

The crosses hung in church and home
Have had the blood all washed away.
Now that I've watched His suffering,
I know the blood is there to stay.

Oh my !

This was absolutely beautiful m'lady

I felt the same way when I watched the movie and cried for both Jesus and Mary.  What a strong man it took to die for our sins, and what an even stronger mother it took to watch it happen.

This is such a wonderful heartfelt write

Thank you for sharing

It certainly was difficult to watch  that movie, yet I was glad to have seen it. I was awed by how closely scripture was followed in it.  Have you read about the inward burden Mel Gibson felt to make this?  It was like a calling. He felt it had to be as realistically true as possible.  He said during the process, he'd sometimes think people are going to love it and more often that it'd be a huge flop at the box office, but he refused to let that enter into the story he felt needed told in a movie. That impressed me.

Your words show your compassion, tender heart and great love of our Lord.  Thank you for sharing your feelings.

Thank you dear Tim and Rae.  Jim Caviezel is from my town, Mount Vernon, Washington.  I still didn't want to see it but I am glad I did  for now I truly know what a price He paid for us.I know it was a labor of love to produce it.  Love, Joyce
