           Green Pastures

Sometimes I only see the frozen night as I slept upon the hardened ground amidst the freezing rain surrounded by icy hearts in the valley of death. The grass rises up around me in the new dawn and lifts me up to heaven’s gate as I reach for the sky with glorious eyes rightful with a renewed heart and soul.  I say, “There are not more dark days.  As long as there is light in my soul.”

Hi,
You haven't seen me around here for I've stayed away for a while, but this place still is my favorite cyber park.

But did you really intend your post to be read straight through like prose.  'Cause it seems to me, it could be broken into poem-like lines, and still sounds beautiful. I wonder if you'd let me try, but if you think I've "murdered" its soul, just let me know and I'll delete my post.

Sometimes I only see the frozen night
as I slept upon the hardened ground,
amidst the freezing rain surrounded by icy hearts
in the valley of death.

The grass rises up around me in the new dawn
and lifts me up to heaven’s gate
as I reach for the sky with glorious eyes
rightful with a renewed heart and soul.

I say, “There are not more dark days.
As long as there is light in my soul.”

merlynh,

I like how the grass lifts you up. Some very powerful and heart touching images expressed here in your poem and, yes, I do like both formats here. I think both yours and hers work very very well. God bless. -Bob

Jjote you do me honor by rearranging my words and letting them touch your soul.  Through the years I’ve learned that, “ poem-like lines” limit expressions that lead to other places.   Below is the second part of my composing.  Thank you for inspiration toward wanting to go further.  Feel free to rewrite them also.

I see other hearts are no different than my own, as a sincere soul I pray, “Forgive them as thou has forgiven me.  Be merciful as thou has been with me.” Then my heart is lead to stillness, silence overcomes me as I fall to my knees knowing there are no words that can be thought that mean anything, only feeling of the heart that comes from him who knows all.  Then with my heart and not my mouth I give a silent prayer as a servant honoring God instead of myself. Heaven parts and I see his face in the clouds, the trees, and every living thing yet mostly in his own image, every human face.  I feel his desires, “love them as thou loves me.”
