A Warrior Cries to Understand

Commander, behold this wounded wreckage
full of forward marches stumbling down
The lying rage of conflict and fatigue
threaten with collapse upon the ground
Self-adorned in facades, in broken armor
rusted and worn by the clouds of war
forged from this world in arrogance
exposing old wounds to my enemy’s sword

Behold broken limbs filled with scarring old bones
dismantled extensions of self-prescribed worth
Undefeated, but beaten upon the hard testing stones
destined to fight with the first breath of my birth
Inside the inescapable fog of an irreversible end
a sense of self-starved potential stabs at the mind
The gallant crusades that once flew as the wind
now lay ill contortioned and enslaved somewhere inside

Beneath these cracking discolored nails of bent hands
the decay of neglect collects beside the soils of unrest
The peace that I crave and cry to understand
waits within my remembrance to explode through my chest

Though behold O Commander,

I hold the entrusted sword, yet unexplored
yet to be awakened for battle, yet to be wielded
So full of power through your word and through truth
it waits upon my good falling, for it’s light remains shielded

My tears of corruption and the fears of onslaught
collect from the soul and stain my cold face
The choice once made to wage war unprepared
scorches the air with lying destruction and waste
But behold this broken spirit, born ever to falter
Falling today, I cry for you my Commander
My tears of release fall as rain upon your envious altar
I raise my chalice to you and weep for your answers

Behold this beautiful wounded surrender
May I learn to lift your sword and set ablaze the skies
for these tears of realization bathe an eclipsed remembrance
and the cries of redemption have softened once jaded eyes
Deliver this wounded wreckage to stand for battle reborn
to wait upon your battle cries and engross upon the sword
May you walk with me through all the lying rages of darkness
for the battles now belong to you my Commander, my Lord
