The Dark Room
By Paul Wilson

As I opened the door to the cold dark room
A small glimmer of light from within caught my eye
Startled I asked who’s there but no one answered
Turning too leave I heard a calming voice sigh

Again…I asked who’s there as the light became brighter
From out of the darkness it moved towards me
Why are you afraid he asked with a gentle voice
I’m afraid the others will condemn me

Confused…he asked who or what are the others?
The non-believers I said with the look of fright in my eyes
Sitting next too me I began too tell him more
I come here each morning too worship the one others despise

The law say’s we can’t pray in public anymore…what a sin
So I come to this darkened room behind a closed door
Why has so many lost their way I ask the stranger
Why don’t they have faith like times before

Take my hand and walk with me
I will protect you and calm your fears
I am the truth… I am the way
Come my child he said let me dry your tears

I am the one that you seek
Fear not those that are blind too me
For they can’t see the light
They shall never live thru me

I am you
You are me
You are free
Trust in me

I do like the message of this poem.  True prayer always occurs in the dark room of the soul, far away from all human eyes.  Regardless of any oppression, you will always have that dark room of yours in which to privately give praise and thanks.

Nicely written, Paul.  I enjoyed this---

This is a love, humble poem and prayer.  Blessed are the meek.  Love, Joyce
