A good hundred miles
Loaded paint cans echoing through
A 29 shot gun atrocity salute
On residential streets and broken pavements
Leaning on a ruined overcooked egg
At seventy-five miles per hour
Rocketing cells, ground highway patrol men

Bursting through Pine Barrens
Watchers revive any breath
Like a conference call, with strategic effects
Dressed in fatigues, gathering human rednecks
Bragging about the unfastened zippers of
Upper class lying at half-mast
Once fraternity pledged
Now grabbed hard by the ear
Jerking and squeezing every wrist
Expelling dignity, and anything else mentionable
Indigestion craves a lifetime Pepcid

I dreamed about uniformed woman
Opening up old wounds
Groaning master’s degrees
While not one face, faced the sea
Their mother’s calculating ivy leagues
Telling them what to wear

I’m stopping to collect clam shells
Bringing each one up from the sand like a diamond gem
Washed in by the ocean…movements were all reverent
Over the years…quite significant

Though I stop to wonder about the schools
Where did they go?
Returning to my home, where it’s still safe
Hard packed with sand and camouflaged spray paint
Waiting for some magical day,
Forgetting to paint a cross on my door
Supposing Nature’s got her reason for everything
Turning to the business at hand
A lifetime of observations…waving their hands
Whispers where the next meal might be coming from
While, pulling sunlight from the now smoked filled air
For a moment I shiver
A mist rose colored sky, still trying to peek through
Thinking of the heartbreak of solitude with no name
Watching gulls still flying north, less & less each year
Thinking bout the bloodstream of fall
And the pale wrist of man
Loving warm summer nights like these
While staring at the sister hood of the beach
Of trees once bright green

Will night take hold once more?
Shaking off that enormous worldly smell
I reach deep into the sea water
Where a ghostly fish puts his cheek on my forearm
“Man’s loneliness is contagious”, he whispers
Always searching for the invisible
Never seeming to make it past 2nd grade
Yet still knowing how to give change

Each cohort of time, runs its own Holocaust
Remembering blown up photographs of democracy
Wondering how many have to wither for social equality?
And I still foster the idea
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,
Compliment it!
So much for technology?
Where are the Master’s now?
Their art, their work, their secret codes?
How many will die before they are recognized?

Shrugging my shoulders, looking back at the fish
Realizing, this was all mental correspondence
He smiles, and I know…that someday
Things will fall apart, innocence is drowning
Darkness will drop it’s gaze
The waiting will begin a new day
And no one will remember the noise
The Code smiles & winks with focus
Revelations…universal and/or privet
Lost ten tribes will be found
New meanings define tribulations
As well as,  religious fixations
