Introspection

I wake for start of new day
to find all Nature stirring.
The bumble bee and humming bird
around the feeder whirring.
The russet breasted robin
has caught the early worm.
He'll feed it to his lady love
before the final squirm.

Across the way the flower field
fills up with willing workers.
Spring in my valley scurries on;
it is no place for shirkers.
Not long ago, I too, was part
of just such frantic action.
I watch with cup of coffee and
a sigh of satisfaction.

I've served my time, no need to rise
to a nerve wracking alarm.
Without me Spring will carry on.
I've rented out the farm.
The days when I met life head-on
is a part of history.
In my newly welcomed leisure,
I let life come to me.

God has granted me this free time
to measure my performance
against the plan he had for me
when I still had the chance
to make this world some better in
the little space around me.
His patience with this willful child,
does not fail to astound me.

Dear Lord, I write this humble poem
as my small praise to you
and token of repentance for
those tasks I failed to do.

Dear Joyce:

I'm sure anything you failed to do was minor! Very nicely written and enjoyable to read!

Joyce.  Lovely.  It sounds like something I would write to Jesus.  Looks like we have thes same heart for Him.  Keep on writing.

Jesus lives in my heart!

A lot of people complain about the problem of "determinism," that there is a plan for everything and a way which things will undoubtedly occur.  You've shown me the other side of this issue, the reassurance you feel that things will occur in the right order and that you need to nothing more than simply allow them to enter your vision.

It's something truly beautiful and wise, and I'm glad you chose to share it with us.  I had forgotten how lovely your writing is, Joyce---the meter reminds me of a poem by Robert Browning that I can't quite peg.  Especially the feminine rhymes early on, really made it work perfectly for me.  It flowed with order and precision that correlated to your subject matter.

I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to read from you again---

Take care
Brian
