The Homeward Path

We'd wandered through the woods and hills.
Ate lunch where roaring water spills
Into a pool, so deep and green.
Here early signs of spring were seen.
Some water cress along the edge
And here and there, the grassy sedge.

The storm that caught us by surprise,
Sent roiling clouds across the skies
And winds that tore at bare-branched trees.
It nearly knocked us to our knees.
We quickly turned our steps to go
Back to our home, but now the snow
Came driving in to screen the view
And chill us to the marrow too!

We struggled on, not sure if we
Remembered where our trail should be.
It seemed we might have gone astray,
But we kept going anyway.
Then, suddenly, a light appeared,
Illuminated, as we peered
At all the forestland around
And there the homeward path was found!

Much later, dry and warm once more,
The storm still blew outside our door.
We felt that light was Heaven-sent
And realized just what it meant.
He watches us both night and day
And sends His light, to guide our way.
With grateful hearts, we thanked Him then,
For keeping us safe, once again!

And printed it should be how absolutely breathtaking this was.  Enjoyed this so much I saved it.

Today I'm only moving clouds, tomorrow I'll try mountains.

although i'm not christian... ( but of course i believe in prophet Jesus ) i truly find your words very soft, genuine and natural...

i liked how you managed to turn the description from a clear view to a storm form

thanx for sharing this beautiful piece of verse with us.
