In the Beauty of the Rainbow

In the crashing of the thunder,
I can hear the voice of God
And imagine I am walking
Where His followers have trod.
Could the brilliance of the lightning
Be compared unto His eyes,
That can pierce the strongest armor
And uncover each disguise?

In the raging of the wild wind,
Do I hear him call my name?
Or is it just the echoes
From the souls confessing shame?
In the aftermath of violence,
When the storm has died away,
In the rays of warming sunshine,
Is He blessing us this way?

Do the songbirds speak for angels,
When they sing their sweet refrains?
In the beauty of the rainbow,
Lies His promise, after rains!

*applause* I love every ounce of it.
Beauty unfurled! What a lovely poem.
What description. I have not seen a lot of rainbows here in Illinois, unless you can drive to flat ground (open area). In Colorado however, there were always rainbows. I saw my first of many double rainbows. I have a picture of it. If I can find it and get it scanned, I'll send you a picture of it. Most awesome thing.

I consider a double rainbow to be a double blessing!

Rebecca:  Thanks for reading!  We have lots of rainbows here and sometimes we will even see a faint third rainbow behid a double one. Depends on the time of year, but Spring is the most likely time to see them.
I would love to see the picture you took!

A couple years back when I was having a hard time dealing with my health and the pain from it, a friend gave me a rainbow colored stuffed animal and a card... In the card she wrote "because God keeps his promises"
You reminded me of that in such a beautiful way, here
Thank you.

Always, Alyssa

Dear Betty Lou

I have always been scared of lightning and thunder.  Your verse is very comforting to me.  Looking forward to that rainbow makes it all worthwhile.

Dear Isobel:  I too have never been easy in thunder and lightning storms, and I do always look for the rainbow, if it's daylight hours.
