A Shining Face

Oh, a shining face like Moses'
is the one that I would wear;
to show that I have looked
upon my Lord.
Or to see Him with Elijah
as did Peter, John and James
would be like looking at
the living Word.

If I had lived so long ago
I would be one of them
who walked and talked with Jesus;
the one born in Bethlehem.
I hope I would have followed Him
on that last fateful day
and helped to carry hurtful cross
along the dreaded way.

But though I wasn't there with them
who walked the paths he walked,
or in the crowd of eager folk
who listened while He talked;
I still can wear a shining face
for I have heard His voice
in the pages of The Gospels.
Reading of Him is my choice!

Jesus said we are even more blessed than those, sister, because we have not seen and yet we believe! It's wonderful to have His Word within such easy access. I'm ashamed that I don't always take advantage of that. Many people are so oppressed that they can't even posess a Bible or hear the Word of God.. we are so blessed to be able to know Him in this way. A wonderful piece you have used to describe this blessing!

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee
