state of marital bliss

In 1969 my debut, it did come.
Then some 30 years later, I wondered, what have I done?
What is my purpose?
Who have I become?

A product of parents whose bond didn't last,
I was the solo creation of a love from their past.
I won't say I'm spoiled, but I'm certainly not deprived.
I've accomplished some things for which I always did strive:

     I'm a mother, a wife and a healed divorcee;
     I'm a college graduate with a business degree;
     I'm a friend and a role model;  a former employee;
     I’m a Christian who’s thankful of life given to me.

But, who am I?

True love, so I thought, landed in '92,
providing  a marriage and a baby dressed in blue.
My title had changed so rapidly, you see,
I was Mrs. & Mommy,
But a little less me.

An accident left me broken soon after
My shattered young body
was then cast in plaster.
My physical features changed quickly, you see,
I was aching and scarred
and a little less me.

Another son was entrusted to our life,
this, in our 5th year as husband and wife.
But another title change for me was in store
when I discovered the presence of a 3rd paramour.
Now ‘single parent’ was the title suiting of me,
divorced and a loner
and a little less me.

The world, she’s so steadfast,
spinning constantly,
On pins and needles
And spent philosophy.
As she churns in her pathway,
So too, do we
As we set forth to find
What was our used to be.
Lost and forgotten, this feeling of me
In this shell of what I thought I certainly should be.
Lest, in perfect time and in synchronous rotation,
did God lift me up to a new transfiguration.

I’m married, again, and happy, you see,
and our union was blessed with boy number three.
Through answered prayers and a lot of distention,
I now have the patience to give my attention
To recovering,
          discovering,
                    resurrecting the me
                               Who I thought had been lost once,
                                                      Dismissed tragically.

          I now understand, transformations can consume
          and there's not one soul who is really immune;
          but remember to nurture to your inner being
          and grab hold of the beauty that all others are seeing.

          I believe we’re all a complex configuration
          for which only God has the true calculation;
          all we have to do, is be true to ourselves,
          and hold on so tightly to whom inside us dwells~

The beauty of the sunset does not compare to the glory of a human - who was made in the image of God.

And that would be you girl.

Thanks for sharing.  I can relate to the part about finding me. (And I did find her)

My humble heart weeps tears of gratitude. What an inspiration you are to all.  You have opened the door and given hope to see the Light at the end of the tunnel.  Such a beautifully written work of art.

Thank you, all, for your very kind replies.  Everyday, there are signs of the greatest that is present, if we just listen, look and feel for them.  I feel very blessed to have come through this journey thus far and know that all the experiences were something I had to go through to get the understanding and peace I have today.
