My heart is feeling like its beating just to beat,
and I'm getting tired of walking with these blisters on my feet.
Hope is starting to sound like its laughing in my face,
and love has become a memory I wish I could erase.

Pain is a feeling that I'm starting to enjoy,
as afliction has won its place in me with victory over joy.
Prayer now seems pointless in my time of need,
as torment now resides in the very depth of me.

My eyes have grown custom to the darkness overhead,
as the soul that once lived so high is now pronounced as dead.

So how can I keep going, pressing towards the goal,
when the light that burned so brightly has now become so dull?
When the flame of desire has been reduced to ash,
While the ground has turned to quicksand and the sky has turned to brass?

Only you can save me from this self-defeat,
pick me up, dust me off, set me back up on my feet.
Show me that I can do this, I don't have to go alone.
and that You will carry me down this dusty road.

(Written with a heavy heart and a doubtful mind.  A time that I find myself in way too often for my liking...sad, but encouraging that my Lord loves me even when I struggle!!!!!)

You know...you write well in whatever genre' you take on, but sometimes a heavy heart is what produces not only the best writing, but also our answers.  Life is so full of ups and downs, and it is what we do while sinking, that will keep us afloat, and as they say, "Looks like you have both oars in the water!" Hang in there, it always gets better when you give him your worry.

Oh, wow!THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS! Sometimes our spirits go through battle after battle and afterwards we feel so weak. The past week and some days have been pretty hard. I could really identify with your poem. Sometimes its hard to put my situation and feelings into a clear and understanable poem. This touched me like whoa! Thanx so much for posting this one. Great job.

I really enjoyed this peice - man I am right there where you are at in this poem all the time; always struggling but at the same time you always know he will help you.  Sometimes though I believe the Lord allows us to struggle so that we will be weak enough to lean on him.  Sometimes struggles = blessings.  Anyway good work and God bless you.  I used to be a regular on this board; I hope to be back more often and I am looking forward to reading more of your stuff..
