I thought in my head that I had finally won.
Slayed the obstacles on the road that I run.
But just like that I am put in my place,
as darkness rushes in with an even darker face.

The plates that I spin start to fall and break,
and I can't keep up with the maddening pace.
This evil is more menacing than the one before,
and I wounded, hurt, beaten, and sore.

Should I just give in and let it take me away?
It may be easier than to endure more pain.
I've had my share of fire and blood;
of heartache, doubt, fear, and flood.

I'm up to my neck in this deadly mire,
as I search for the means to put out this fire.
The fire that's sure to kill me this time,
but I don't want to burn in this deadly mire.

So I turn to the only one that can save me,
extinguish the flame that destroys my dreams.
I pray without ceasing for his delivering arm,
I give up to Him and not to the dark.

I can feel the heat getting hotter and hotter,
but I can hear the voice of my heavenly Father.
Putting the fire to ash and calming the storm,
That's been raging against me since the day I was born.

Out of the quicksand I am gently pulled free,
and see the face of my Savior smiling at me.
Saying, "this whole time I've been waiting to help,
to save you from yourself, and this living hell."

And to my amazement, my tired eyes see,
that plates that were shattered are now in one piece.
Resting safely in the palm of the hand,
that was nailed to the cross to save this dying man.

So now I know that I don't fight alone,
All I had to do was give up control.

Excellent poem about the willingness to give up control and simply ask for help as it was there all the time.
