A Thanksgiving Day Prayer

We thank You, God:

For all the blessings that abound
For friends and family gathered ‘round
For bounty more than would suffice,
And thank You, God, for Jesus Christ

We’re grateful for this loving home
For richness of the garden grown
From seeds beneath the winter ice,
And thank You, God, for Jesus Christ

On this Thanksgiving Day we pray
That you will guide us in Your Way
With footsteps steady and precise,
And thank You, God, for Jesus Christ

You’ve given us the Holy One
The Gift Devine, Your only Son
Who for our sins was sacrificed.
We thank You, God, for Jesus Christ

No matter what we give or do
Our gifts fall short of those from You.
None match the dearness of the price
Of that Great Gift of Jesus Christ

For all the blessings You’ve bestowed
For dues He paid, that were not owed
For death that wrought eternal life,
We thank You, God, for Jesus Christ

Amen

Elizabeth:  This is a truly wonderful prayer, but them all your work is outstanding. I'm sorry I can't make it to Open but rarely, as I know most of your work is there and I enjoy it so much.
Loved the picture too!

Betty Lou, THank you for responding to this prayer, which I wrote today, and which was snatched up by both a Catholic priest and a Seventh Day Adventist pastor, both of whom want to print it in their Thanksgiving bulletin/ newsletter. You words are very kind. I also have not been visiting the open forums much lately.
Thank you so much
Liz

I am not surprised this was snatched up by the churches Liz, it is simply a magnificant prayer.  I am so glad you posted in the Spiritual Forum, and I know you have more gifts to be thankful for, like that wonderful family of yours - bet there is a poem hidden somewhere about family for us?  This was delightful and m'friend, it was great talking to you tonight

This is a lovely poetic prayer, Liz...  We should remember to give thanks for God's sharing His son with us... Thank you, my dear friend...
