She lay lost inside herself, a prisoner of her own mind.A vast chasm separating her from loved ones who helplessly called her name. Five siblings taking turns telling her how much we loved her, and that it was alright to go home. We wondered if there were times when she could hear and understand the plight of our sorrowing hearts.

She lay lost in the vacuum of oblivion for several days, suddenly awakening, no longer a slave to the malignant beast that was ravaging her. She had returned to say goodbye. A celestial light shone in eyes that had never been so blue. She smiled and our hearts leaped with joy. She hugged each one of us and patted our backs. God had given us a miracle. A chance to say goodbye. Surely rainbows danced in the sky and the whole world wore a foolish smile.

In a short span of time the tentacles of darkness reached out once again to claim their waning prize. The day wore on and we watched her passage toward eternity. Her breathing became harsh and jagged, the pauses in between lengthened and finally ceased. She was gone from us, the angel of our hearts had taken up residence in heaven. Joy and sorrow washed over us in great breaking waves as we sought to console and be consoled.  How we would miss that smile that stirred our hearts, that gentle touch that calmed the soul. Our joy was in knowing she stood in the presence of our Saviour, health restored, home at last. Her life wasn't over, it had only just begun.

What a sad and yet uplifting narrative. It's awful to lose someone you love, but it is a blessing when the one that passes is a Christian, and we can be assured of their peace and safety.

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Beverly~

This is as beautiful a read as I'll see this day~

I am touched to tears~

Yes .. you were given the miracle of 'goodbye' ... how many times I've wished that with my father, mother, brother and sister I would have had that opportunity~

Thank you for sharing something so personally beautiful~

I cry these tears freely at your blessing~
