Ninth Day
By: Noah Eaton
4/20/03

One day Jesus walked from Nazareth
To offer the eyewitnesses and ministers theophany
In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God
The Word happened to be God too apparently
He saw the world put into an infernal disorder
After seven days of peace while He watched over
All in one day after He flew through the stars all became lascivious
Came back the next day to commiserate from His alter

Feels like this ninth day never seems to end
So I want an apple that hasn’t been condemned
I want a hand to lift me up from this rubble
I need a reason for why we must go through all this trouble

And as the world keeps turning
I won’t give up
And as the truth is hiding
I won’t give up

One day there was a man sent from God, his name was John
Baptized the Lord with water and made witness to our light
Stepped out into Galilee to introduce Himself to His brethen
Taught men to hear with their ears and see with their eyes
Then the heathens feared for their lives and sacrificed you
Still I can feel your blood-stained tears deep down
With all those who transgressth in the shadows of the deceivers
Tends to break my heart from the inside out

Feels like this ninth day has gone on for ages
I want a reason for how things have to be
I want a tourniquet to suppress the blood loss
I want a perception for what all this means

And as the world keeps turning
I won’t give up
And as the truth is hiding
I won’t give up

When Diotrephes is still lurking in the shadows
Through this epoch and the next
When Zacharias is sitting hopelessly outside the hospital
Praying if Elisabeth will ever give birth again
When the law of Moses is broken and grace is forgotten
When no saint can verily say anything
When our children can’t go outside to breathe the elusive lily
In the face of murmurers and complainers who are always faltering

Secure our inheritance
Pull us out of the fire
Manifold my blessings
Your interpretation is all I aspire

And as the world keeps turning
I won’t give up
And as the truth is hiding
I won’t give up
And as the world keeps turning
I won’t give up
And as the truth is hiding
I won’t give up

I shall preach among the Gentiles
Sojourning your lost footsteps in the sands…
Awaiting for this long ninth day to pass...

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

My goodness... I must say, I think this is one of your best. You encompass much of human history in your poem, and you do it so well. I love how you compare and contrast the present to the past. You remind me of Elie Wiesel, especially in the part where you talk about Elisabeth giving birth again... thank you so much for this, it'll go in my library.

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Noah,

A most magnificent and exuberant display of art as well as raw and then again, yet seemingly, pure and impartially undefiled emotion. I do love how you search and aspire into the great beyond to bring home such bold and inclusive evidences of the powers of nobility upon the Great White Throne and I am equally amazed how you display the broken humanity of Christ here.... Oh, along with some other Bible characters, you bring the first chapter of John so beautifully into Light... Yes, God did most certainly become flesh and dwelt with us in the image of mankind. Everything here as you have displayed it is most excellent and I do thank you my friend for once more sharing your talent here with us and may God bless you and keep you ever near and tender to His heart.

Dear Noah, you really touch me deeply with this work. You have a great cultural background and plunge masterfully into past history and current state of things, wrapping your insights in stunning poetry.
Just awesome.
Much love, Margherita

Mistletoe Angel,

I appreciate the sheer work/effort that went into this.  Crafting a poem can require some sweat, eh?  And then there are those that just seem to roll off of the writer unto the page/monitor.

Love,

Noah:  This is magnificent! You have created an outstanding piece of work, both visually and literally!  I'm glad I got to read it.

Best wishes
