This was written for a friend a while ago who was having 'IMAGE' problems, although quite possibly a lot of us hit this place of despair at some time or other in our lives and can relate.

I am not empty,
I must raise the shutters
Of my dwelling place,
So that others can see
The life, that lives within.

My house on the outside
Suffers from neglect,
Compounded by discontentment,
For what I consider to be
A total lack of beauty.
This walks, hand in hand
Side by side
With an enormous
Inferiority complex.

If I never learn anything else
In this life, I have learnt
Without question,
That a low self image
Insidiously destructs
And deteriorates.

How tightly I have kept
Doors and windows
Purposely closed.
A shallow effort
To protect my vulnerability,
To keep guarded, my heart and soul.
A misguided attempt to shelter me
From my fears of rejection,
Be they real or imagined.

This is such utter foolishness,
Totally unwarranted
And certainly without honor.

I am a child of God,
I am beloved in His eyes,
Thus... accordingly,
I should be beloved in mine.

God does not consider
My living quarters as a hovel,
Therefore, neither should I.

I am going to throw open this home,
I am going to endeavor
Accepting the fact that I am indeed
A wonderful creation
Of a kind and loving Father.
I realize that I must have
More regard and dignity
For my existence.

Thank you Lord
For all the blessings
That have been and will be in my life.
Help me to be worthy
To be called Your child.

Teach me how to live
Within the walls of this temple,
My home,
As you would wish me to.

In grace, with love...  Amen

I be me BUT who does me be?

Very lovely poem.  I think we all have been there at one time or another but God is faithful and He brings us through it.  Nice poem.

Jesus lives in my heart!

I think we all have at one time gone through not being content with what we are or we have, and if we put into focus what we are and who made us, what greater wealth is there than the knowledge that we are that special?  Loved this, and the message.  I do hope she found peace it is hard some times.

How very intense and beautiful. You said the right words, may your friend FEEL them and make them hers.
Love, Margherita

SPIRIT:  How kind and thoughtful of you to write this poem for your friend.  I'm sure it must have helped her to read it. It's truly inspiring.

It was an easy call, I can't imagine to many of us have not been in that same spot at some time or other - I know I was, seems like a lifetime ago, and could remember how badly I felt.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Believe me, I have felt this way too, I suffered so much as a little boy and I felt as though I had nothing until I embraced His spirit and then feel I have close to everything I need! (big hugggsssssss) My prayers go out to those still trying to get past the image phase, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Das, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

Praying helps to ease the pain and gives hope to the sad ones. Beautifully written!
Your friend is so blessed to have such a kindred spirit as you....
