My prayer in times of doubt
When I let my days dissolve in breathless speed,
without any meaning and without any evolution,
then I wish an Angel would appear in front of me
inviting me to ponder the purpose of what I'm doing.

When the noises of the world heavily disturb
my attempts to get in touch with the Divine source
then I would like that the magic sound of silence
would restore the pleasure of being able to think.

When I can’t find the right words to say,
or when I speak profusely without saying nothing,
then I wish wisdom would suggest me the words
conferring import and coherence to what I say.

When I pick up only disquieting news and signs
of a world transformed into an endless desert,
then I wish the spiritual dimension would reveal
comforting truths about the future to believe in.

When I can’t find in my neighbour any affinity,
nor comprehension, tolerance or solidarity,
then I wish a divine breath would pervade everyone
to make them conscious of our common destiny.

When I feel greedy of material richness,
wanting to possess, to hoard and to show off,
then I would want to be able to recognise
essentiality in all the immense gifts of Creation.

When my heart is full of hatred and resentment
against whom offended me and didn’t understand me,
then I wish the Creator of the World sent the
seed ofHis Love within the deepness of my being.

When my soul longs and aches in deep sorrow
for the beloved ones who are no more among us
then oh Angels help me to stay in touch and remind me
of Jesus' words telling us about our celestial homes.

When desperation penetrates my mind and
when I have a feeling of uselessness of all efforts
then Lord of Heavens come and take my hand
and show me the path of Love and Hope.

When life seems chaos and I see nothing but shadows,
when I fear that I won’t be conscious of the beyond
then Jesus Christ Saviour of the World, You Who live,
come and talk to me,renewing Your promise of Eternity.

Oh my gosh, I could have and should have written this. I spend so much time fretting about doubt and not having enough trust. Ahhhh!

I wish an Angel would appear in front of me
inviting me to ponder the purpose of what I'm doing.
  Fabulous line!!

Hugs for peace, trust and the dispersement of doubt.  Marti

Martie picked the lines I was going to refer to as I "do" have an angel that guides me in a round about way.  I always think about what a dear friend of mine would guide me with, as she was always my light and through this, I am closer to her and to him.  I do know this well, and I too worry but when I do, I hand it over and presto - the load is always lighter.

Well done indeed, and I thoroughly enjoyed your work.

God bless our soldiers, for it is now
a brand new beginning for those so long suppressed.

Wow!  This is exactly how I feel sometimes.  I just didn't know how to put it to words like you have.  Great job!

(sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, I think ever so often we fail to trust and we focus too much on the pressure all around us and fail to recognize that He will offer us the nostrum and we just have to bear with Him and show our patience and desires for believing! (kiss on cheek) Always reach to Him, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Margherita, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Brilliant write - wish I had put such thoughts down on paper first. Sometimes it appears very easy to doubt. You spoke for many here I am sure.

I have this really bad habit of just being a quiet reader sometimes, and neglect to let people know that I am reading and impressed with their work.

Your spirituality shines in verse, and you express your humanity and frail moments beautifully.

Smiling...so, I confess, yes, I am a secret fan of your Margherita--please continue to grace us with your words and thoughts.

I must be honest with you that the depth, the importance and the content of your poem here is much to much for me to digest in only one or two settings. Your poem is so very packed full of wisdom and direction of which I need to be aware and to apply to my life that the only way that I can truly contain it is by printing your poem out for reference which I have done. Again, this is a most wonderful poem of which I am certain that I will be referring to quite often. Thank you and again God bless you my poet friend.

Thank you my dear friends for reading and for your very loving comments.
Even though I BELIEVE in God's presence in my heart, sometimes there are challenges in our lives that push us into a temporary darkness and require to ask for God's help and assistance to cope ... and to get safely out of the tunnel.
Thank you and love to all.

I came back to print this and saw your comment, and can only hope that you definitely see more light than darkness, and if you just surrender to him, he will see to that.  Happy Easter Margrit.

Thank you! no seriously I'm not good with my words but as I read this I was like, you were speaking what was in my soul and heart, but how silly can I be it's universal, we all feel this way more than once and this is what I'm feeling right now I feel so lost but I don't think I feel so lost anymore...

This was great!  Can't believe that English isn't you're first language.  Too often poems about faith mask the inner doubt that must always go hand in hand with faith.  It's perhaps these doubts that make faith so transcendant and give it it's sublime power.  Well done!

Thank you dear Ulysses for your very wise comment. I am quite surprised to find this poem "unburied" after such a long time and I admit that I read it again with attention now. Those moments occur still every now and then, but in God we trust and walk safely ahead.

Welcome again!

Love,
Margherita
