Easter Peace

I try to write of finer things,
Of God's pure love and angel wings.
My mind projects me back to war
And helplessly the sad words pour.
Dear Jesus take us in your arms;
Protect us from all that which harms.
Peace in this world swiftly restore
And show us how to love, not war.
The Easter season, once more here
Should help to smother every fear.
We know you conquered hate and pain;
Died on the cross and rose again.
On Easter may the whole world feel
Your love and know that God is real.

It can be hard to think of a peaceful Easter.. but remember, the circumstances around the event were far from peaceful. Christ lived in an occupied land and as a member of an oppressed race. He told the people to live in peace, but He died a violent death. After He returned to heaven, the Apostles were persecuted and martyred for their faith. I don't think this world will be peaceful until Christ comes again and makes a new heaven and a new earth. The only peace we can find is within the will of God and knowing that we are His.

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Even Christ Himself was known as the Man of Sorrows, I think in the world full of pain we can just be a light and show how we can live righteous holy lives, thriving through the torture... but its still ok to be sad, because, it is sad. Thank you Lord for setting us free! by His stripes we are healed
wonderful poem!

Heartfelt writing. You always write so prolificly (?) of the 'now'. Very impressive.

Joyce,

Easter does have an amazing way of bringing us all back to the reality and to the realization of what sacrifices were made and who truly made the most significant sacrifice of them all for our ultimate freedom. Oh, I do agree,

"On Easter may the whole world feel
Your love and know that God is real."

Amen.

This is our most heartfelt and hoped for request, I believe, for our world today. Happy Easter and God bless you and yours throughout this Easter season.
