All For One

It's time to put our signs away
and get behind our troops.
We dissenters all have had our day
and joined with protest groups.
Of course we didn't want a war
but war is what we have;
so it's time to band together and
our beloved flag to wave.
No one tried to stop us
when we shouted no more war.
If there were any other way
we wanted war no more.
We thought that we knew better than
the ones whom we elected.
No one tried to shoot us when
our banners we erected.
If we had lived in Iraq we'd
have probably been killed.
Now the die is cast for us,
our protests must be stilled.
Now with a single voice
we must turn to God in prayer
and ask that where there's danger
He will send His angels there.

We pray that peace comes quickly
and the villains are dethroned,
mass destructions weapons destroyed
and the evil ones disowned.
Spread Your wings of justice over all
who don't deserve our wrath;
guide our leaders in their efforts
to find the safest path
to the day when there is no more need
for bombs and shells and guns.
We pray that You are with us,
Your loved daughters and Your sons.

Hi Joyce, Ir is good to read a patriotic poem. What I pray for and what I think will happen are two different things.  No matter what; God is and always will be. Thanks for sharing your poem.

Joyce - being from the opposing side, being one who attended a "Rally for America" instead of protests it is so great to read such a beautiful poetry of patriotism.  I pray your attitude will sweep the country.  It IS time to stand together no matter how you feel, otherwise the "United We Stand" was just a phrase some used after 911 because it was politically correct to say it then.  Let's all hope it really means something to the entire country.

I loved your poem - Thank you and God bless you - Tim

Hi Joyce, very nice poem. I'd say that you had a little guidance with this. From the same one who guides all of us. Especially,  Now with a single voice
We must turn to God in prayer
and ask that where there's danger
He will send his angels there.

He will send his Angels there. This one line is so profound. Like while you were writing the poem his reassuring guidance added this line through you, for all of us to know. So very nice. Thank You.

Joyce:  Great poem!  You say what so many of us are thinking and feeling.  I hope everyone will totally support our troops and this will be the shortest war in history!

Thanks everyone.  I hope you don't think I was out there with my signs but I thought I should speak as though I was.  I am praying for a quick victory.  Joyce

Joyce,

I give you credit for addressing issues about world events that, though complicated, are so very very crucial and relevant to our lives today. I must admit that I am in the dark, as I believe many people are, when it comes to modern warfare, technology, intelligence, and such matters. It's so very difficult to make a logical or sound decision about what is right and what is wrong with so little amounts of relevant information that the general public, such as myself, is given here and so much of what I pray for as of late has been for Trust and for Faith, in spite of how very little I truly understand, in those leaders in the government, in the military, and in positions of authority who have rule over our futures and the welfare of this country and the peoples of which I am apart. I agree, I must pray, because I feel that there is only One who truly knows what is going on and I do pray that Truth and Goodness will prevail and that it will prevail quickly with minimal loss of human lives. (Amen) Again, a very good poem that calls for unity and addresses the prevailing issues at hand. God Bless.

Indeed, Joyce.. we should take our energy and concentrate it on prayer for the safety of all involved, instead of in protest. I really enjoyed how you conveyed this message!

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

(big hugggssssss) Here I sit patiently also waiting soon for Bush and his administration and the Iraqi leaders to both be dethroned as I pray to Him soon we can have capable loving leaders in both countries at war and find a resolution to peace! (sad sigh) I will support the troops now, I just won't support Bush, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Yeah, so sad.  However, I beleive that the protsets are never too late, and even though we can't stop the war from starting, we can still try to keep some countries out of it and make it end as soon as possible.  But you're right, we can always turn to God, and he will never turn our prayers away.  Very artistic poem.

you're very right.. its time to unite. Once war has begun, our troops need our prayer, their families need our peace and gentleness.. and rebellion gets nowhere but to anger.
I kneel beside you, and pray. Thank you God for being in control.

Always, Alyssa

Joyce, this is so well said. I agree 100%. No one likes war; no one wanted this war; many people think what the president did is wrong. However, the fact remains, we're in Iraq and there are thousands of 18 and 20 year old babies fighting under the name United States.

So let's rally and unite behind our troops.
Blessings and hugs, Marti
