When God Made Birds

When God made birds, He must have smiled
And watched them fly into the wild.
He must have known how the sound
Of bird voice singing all around,
Would brighten up the grayest day
And drive the doldrums far away!

He made them in such colors too!
We see in them, each lovely hue
The spectrum holds.Their feathers show
Such diverse patterns and they grow
From Golden Kinglet size to tall
And we enjoy them, large and small.

I'm sure He meant the birds to be
A source of joy and company.
To mark the seasons, when they're here
And give us pleasure through the year.
It's hard to find the proper words,
To thank Him for His gift of birds!

yes, I love to see them fly and hear them sing...some ppl living near the shore don't like them to be around though...cuz the birds make noise early in the morning and late at night, and that their waste are all over the roof of the apartments building which create a smell, since the air circulation is from the top of the building to the whole building. Sigh...if only there is something perfect! But I don't mind the noise at all...it is better than the alarm clock. What do you think?

Maybe I am not praying...but I know...
You are always listening...to my soul...

Is there one single thing that God did not think of?  I don't think so and certainly the birds were one of his most creative.  I love your poem.  Joyce

Eliza:  Thanks for commenting on this. I never mind birds, even in the early morning or late evening.  They are all interesting!
Where I live, we often hear owls at night and I enjoy them too.

Love
Betty Lou

I have birds so close by my window who come to feed, and each time they visit something magical always creates a warm smile.  I loved this poem and congratulations on having it published, it is certainly a very worthy piece of poetry.

A five year old was once asked by his teacher what is the biggest bird in the world?  His reply......

"Big Bird."

I think GOD certainly expressed His sense of humor when He created birds with their unique shapes, forms, colors, and sounds. (Smiles)

I too love the birds.  Just thinking about them puts a big smile upon my face.  Thank you. A very nice poem.

Bob:  I loved your story about the biggest bird in the world!  To a five year old today, of course, Big Bird would be just that!
Fortunately, I don't think there are many people who do not enjoy birds, which is a good thing for all concerned!
I too, have always felt that God has a superlative sense of humor in all things!
Thanks.

Betty, I loved this. I cannot tell you the hours I sit and watch the birds in my backyard. Especially the magnificent pair of Cardinals and a little red-headed woodpecker who makes me laugh.

Wonderful poem ... hugs, Marti

Hi Marti:  Thanks for the nice comments. We have pileated woodpeckers here, who also have red crests on their heads, but they are large!  We enjoy them and also the Steller's Jays, who have blue bodies and black heads.  See them a lot at this time of year. all birds are welcome!

What a wonder aren't they? I love to hear them sing. I love to watch them go about their business.

Thankful indeed I am for the song of birds.
I always think of them as singing praises to God.

Lovely way of putting it.
