THE FISHER’S PRAYER

What a warm, beautiful day,
I happily sit beneath trees
That rustle gently.
They occasionally gift me
A treasure of mottled leaves.

My toes dabble,
Barely reaching
The liquid playground
Of the quiet lake.
My fishing line playfully bobbles,
Marring the smooth waters
With small swirling whirlpools.

An afternoon meant for me,
For the reveries of such as I.
My future is shortened,
By advancing age,
But my appreciation,
For each and every day
Is what I hold so dear.

This is a familiar solace,
On an early autumn afternoon,
Such as this.
“Dear Lord, please
Don’t let me catch a fish,
I don’t want to break the spell
Of this precious time.”

I am an enigma, even unto myself.
A puzzle unsolved, a mystery maybe until beyond death.  ©das

As you stated earlier, so many humbling words and thoughts expressed here and you my friend are of no exception.... You are a wonderful poet. I love the scenic, lackadaisical, and playful mood of your poem here. I love the nurturing that GOD provides for us as expressed here to the point that catching a fish is really of little or no importance compared to those precious times that have been spent with GOD.  Your poem just makes me want to kick off my shoes and say...... Ahhhhhhhhh.  Another wonderful write my friend.  GOD bless.

(sigh) This is precious, sweet friend, I too love to fish but never to catch fish but simply to relax and placate and introspect and especially with my grandfather, I always seem to get in deep conversations with him! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Das, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This last stanza caught me by surprise - a pleasurable one, though.  Such a playful soothing prayer - like being a child once more playing with water while Someone watches caringly.
(I've been browsing most of your poems, admiring how prolific you are, and what nice thoughts you bring to this forum.. I like this one, and so I'm bring it to top line.)..

I felt as if I was doing the fishing and dipping my toes into the water, very pleasant images here.

How on earth did I miss this one - what a peaceful picture. This is lovely.
