Winter's Refuge

Dark barren trees of winter droop
     --wind shrill their only sound--
Long shadows of the evening stoop
     to kiss the ravaged ground.
Old ragged bridge to cross the creek
     must hold up with despair.
Smoke rises from my shanty's peak
     to flock the turbid air.
Thin frothy paths of ice and sleet
     slice hillsides sludged with snow
While little creatures find retreat
     in shelters down below.
As I recline with book and prayer,
     no turmoil found outside,
nor hold, nor care can there compare
     to GOD whom I confide.

this is descriptive. And yes, God comes to our rescue. Bless you, Bob.

BTW, I've a newe poem at Corner Pub...if you don't mind, would you check it out my friend? I feel like my poetry is without structure or form...and that make me sad...I hope one day I can write a poem with proper structure and forms.

Last note, your poetry and comments always delight me.

Beautiful poem Bob, and the images in it do fit very well your picture.  I can just imagine curling with a book and looking at the snow scene outside, and feel His presence surrounding me.
Thanks for sharing.

And Bob, me too, --want to learn how to put an image on my poem..

OK you two!!! Here is a quick lesson to start out your new  year with....

How To Put an Image on My Page?

Just copy what I've done here, but leave off the asterisk (*), paste it when you post your poem, and then you will have it.

The above will give you a picture of a dove, because the (/pip/icons/icon90.gif) is the address for the picture of the dove.  Unless you want to use the picture of the dove with your poem, you will first need to find a picture that you like, get the address for that picture, then replace the address of the dove between the with the address of the picture that you want. The above image will look like this if you leave the asterisk off.

To get the imgage into the center of your poem, change the margin setting above to "Center" and then your image will look like this...

Some great pictures are found at the following address right here a Passions.

Great Pictures

Now, I am expecting to see some "Great Pictures" with your great poetry from both of you.... Have some fun with it and

GOD bless.

-Bob

It is so humbling to read so many beautiful words and thoughts as expressed in this Forum. Your picture and words evoke scenes of gentle, peaceful and serene times. So very nice.

Oh Bob ..you've done it. This makes me want to go sit on bridge in the snow and write prayers to God and sing songs to Him...
Now if only it'd snow!

This really is lovely.
May you be blessed richly by God.

Thanks Bob. I copied your command, but I can only see the pic if I click the "clear fields" when editing and the back key. When I go to the main page, the pic doesnt show. dumb me.. Maybe you can go peek at Pilgrimage, to see what's wrong??
Or do I have to load the pic at the piptalk site?

Josefina,

What you did was perfect, but I don't think you got the correct address for the image that you wanted to display. The address that you used...

will give you this image.

I would refind the address of the image that you want and then I would replace the address that you used.  One way to find the address of the image that you want is by right clicking with your mouse on the image that you like once it comes up and then click on properties. Copy the "Location" or the "URL" once you're in properties to ths space between the .  Don't give up! You can do it!  GOD bless.

HEY BOB,
i am writing mainly to comment on what u said about my poem.it feels really good when a really sad feeeling is felt by someone else and communicated and even understood just as it was.i'm glad u also share the belief that someday u'll meet ur friend again in the streets of gold.that is the only comfort there is to hang on to and to take us thru the tough times.love u for understanding so much...

Something's playing tricks with me (rather, with my pic). Now you see it, now you don't. The last time I visited Pilgrimage, the pic was there, and you must have seen it too, 'cause you posted a reply that you did.
Today, I peeked to make sure - but it's not appearing again!!
booho, boohooo...
I give up with Pilgrimage.
I tried it with A View to the Present, and it's there. I think I wrote the same command, I just don't know why it won't do with the 1st pic.

Josefina,

I am not having any problem seeing your image, but perhaps a different browser might.  Anyway, this sounds like a perfect problem for the technical people here at Passions to look into.  Just click below to ask the professionals. (Smiles) Sorry for the headaches, but I do love the picture of the clouds that I see.
