What Is Real??

The pain I feel??  The strain is real.
The pounding on my brain is real.
A monetary gain is real,
But it won't last. It too will pass
and leave me with more questions asked.

What Is Real??

The worth I feel??  The earth is real.
A mother giving birth is real.
A momentary mirth is real,
But it won't last.  It too will pass
and leave me with more questions asked.

What Is Real??

So what's the spiel??  Is it concealed??
The evidence is all but sealed!!
Why must it all seem so surreal??
To know the truth is no big deal,
It's here for our believing ...

What Is Real.

I really enjoyed this one, Bob.  I liked the use of the repeated rhyme, and the question you posed is one so many of us ask too often.

"To know the truth is no big deal,
It's here for our believing"

What's real is that nobody's getting young, and knowing it is pain that's real enough. Believe you me.

I like the repetitious use of the question on what's real - makes one stop to think.

Thanks a bunch... Glad that you both liked the structure of this one.  It was written to be light hearted and to be enjoyed....  (OMG) Josefina, I was hoping that you would find your way here from "Holiday Cheer..." (Yay!!)  ...and you are so right about not growing any younger. (Big Smiles)  The jest of the poem is just that.... What is real is right before us, but we do have such a very hard time accepting it... Don't we? Amen.  Thanks again for all of your comments and for the smiles that you have put upon my face.
