A Country Christmas

Fields like glistenin' diamonds
Are blanketed in snow
Gold n' silver packages
All tied up with a bow

Trees are set in houses
The family gathers round
Steaming mugs of chocolate
The tree top now is crowned

Streets of busy people
In windows stop to stare
Snow shows off its color
From festive lights hung there

Carolers are singing
A Savior's melody
Hooves of horse with buggy
Complete the symphony

Graceful are the skaters
Who dance on frozen pond
And stir the feathered snow
When blade and ice do bond

It's a Country Christmas
The town folk all are cheered
'Cause on this magic night
A miracle appeared

Thank you all for your warm comments.

Noah, you're always bringing a smile with such enthusiasm. LOL

Maree, wish I could send you some snow, but we don't have a whole lot here....yet.
Hope it stays that way. But there is COLD here.

Thank you all again. I thought I'd post something old, cause I sure haven't been able to come up with anything new.

God bless

Ah, the country Christmas.  So beautiful, sacred, and unknown to me.  I've never seen one before, but just reading a poem like this about it, with such wonderful imagery, makes me feel as though I have.  Thanks for the early Christmas.  I'll think about this when I have my dreary, commercialized city Christmas on the 25th.

Sorry to hear you haven't been writing lately, Dove.  I do sympathize with you, but we fans of your work equally deserve sympathy for being so deprived for so long, no?

Well it's great to see you again.  I was wondering where you went!     You're going to stick around for a while, right?  No Christmas tree is complete without a white dove...

Happy holidays!

Oh it is so good to see you here, and with these cheerful words of the season.  I hope you won't be a stranger again, you were missed.

Got me singing a little "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby here.     Oh, White Dove, you have been missed so much and I am happy that you posted or reposted one of your poems if only just to let us all know that you are OK.  Anyway, this is a very nostalgic poem that inspires many wonderful thoughts of Christmas and especially the miracle of the first Christmas.  So very nice to hear from you again and may you and yours have a very Blessed and Merry Christmas.

-Bob

what a warm gift it is finding this great oldie reposted.  Thank you, Sharon (I'd bet).  Yesterday, I kept thinking of this poem she wrote.  I think it was one of her best.  She'd called me a few times the day she was writing it, to run lines or parts of them by me, to see what I thought.  I dearly miss those calls, but thank the good Lord her poetry lives on.  Tim and the kids were just here for dinner, today.  Was so nice to see them.
