He Said, “Belong to the Day

Each day I awaken
is a new day given me
a day to use for Him,
for others or me
for pain, sorrow, or joy
to step forth with conviction, with purpose

Yet, he would speak today
to “belong to the day”
rather than the day being mine...
How can that be?

Am I to let the day take me
Move me as if unfolds
rather than me moving
within it?

His words then were
“be ready for what the day brings,
for it may bring the ‘Day of the Lord.’ ”

To be ready
with the Lamp of Faith
always burning,
wearing the breastplate of righteousness,
and the helmet of Salvation
by His awesome presence
and power.

Lord, help me understand.

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Dear Vas   I like your sermon poems.  Sometime we turn a deaf ear to sermons but hear them in your poetry.  Love, Joyce

REVISED WITH SPELLING CORRECTION:

He Said, “Belong to the Day

Each day I awaken
is a new day given me
a day to use for Him,
for others or me
for pain, sorrow, or joy
to step forth with conviction, with purpose

Yet, he would speak today
to “belong to the day”
rather than the day being mine...
How can that be?

Am I to let the day take me
Move me as it unfolds
rather than me moving
within it?

His words then were
“be ready for what the day brings,
for it may bring the ‘Day of the Lord.’ ”

To be ready
with the Lamp of Faith
always burning,
wearing the breastplate of righteousness,
and the helmet of Salvation
by His awesome presence
and power.

Lord, help me understand.
