Brother Francis Jude the
righteous never drank of
beer nor wine. He would only imbibe
water after blessing it sublime.

In his holy sanctuary
benedictions he'd recite
He refused the times of plenty for they
made him feel not right.

And when kindly thanked for favors
he would humbly bow his head
and with sanctimonious gestures tell them:
"You must praise the lord instead."

It was thus with great amazement
that I spied him one bright day
with the head of John the Baptist
resting on a silver tray
and a smile of dedication
plastered on his ruddy face
as he hurried toward Herod
in his sanctimonious haste.
