Windows

Our eyes provide us windows on the world.
Both near at hand and in lands far away.
We watch the palettes colors, dense and swirled
And deal with life's emotions, every day.

So many people pass and disappear.
A few will pause and very soon begin
To share the many things that we hold dear
And see our soul's light, shining deep within.

Our "windows" are awash at times with tears,
But mostly they are bright and sparkling panes.
We watch the world's progression through the years,
And wonder at its losses and its gains!

This old year ends and soon a new one starts.
We add our pleas to all of those who pray,
That this one holds more meaning in men's hearts
And love and peace will triumph, come what may!

I loved the whole poem, but what spoke to me the most here was that I along with others I believe have a great thankfulness for those friends who take the time to pause and to get to know us better. This really speaks to me because I feel like I am not alone when letting my "soul's light" shine here for all to see and it really excites me when I find others such as yourself as well as other poets who have common interests with mine. It's truly wonderful when the windows to our souls are clear and transparent.  Thank you for sharing and again I loved your whole poem.
